New Yorkers for Clean Air Response to Legislative One House Budgets
NEW YORKERS FOR CLEAN AIR STATEMENT IN RESPONSE TO LEGISLATIVE ONE HOUSE BUDGETS
"The Senate sent a powerful message in their one-house budget: cleaning New York’s air and holding polluters accountable is urgent. We commend their call for a strong cap-and-invest program and for urging the Hochul administration to move forward with long-overdue regulations. We appreciate the Assembly’s efforts to allocate resources from the Sustainable Future Fund toward a cleaner future, aligning with our coalition’s key priorities.
Only a cap-and-invest program can provide the sustainable funding needed to ensure lasting progress. Every day of delay benefits polluters while New Yorkers—especially children, seniors, and vulnerable communities—continue to breathe dirty air and the state is deprived of necessary investments in modernizing and cleaning up its energy infrastructure. It’s time for action, not excuses. Governor Hochul must advance all cap-and-invest regulations today."
